All that glitters is not gold

My post today may seem a bit out of the ordinary. While many of us swing our coils to find that lost ring, or silver coin, or colonial era relic, I found myself swinging the coil for a more priceless treasure.

Ever since I began detecting, I brought my two children along with me. My 11 year old daughter and 7 year old son had specific jobs. Adrianna would hold the Garrett Pro Pointer, and Cameron was the keeper of the garden spade. And with each and every target that we discovered, both of them would work as a team to find the discovery together.

Seeing them enjoying themselves AND working together, laughing and cheering over a Memorial penny, clad coin or the elusive silver is a big breath of fresh air from the sibling torment and wrestling matches that would resume as soon as we got home.

But this hobby has brought all three of us closer together, which is more valuable than anything I can locate with my detector.
